If there are ways to succeed, then there are also ways to fail. However, don’t be mistaken, we’re not writing this for sabotage purposes! But rather, it’s more of something to remember when you’re managing social media. The internet is a whole spectrum of content, trends, and information. There are numerous ways to reach success, and on the downside of things, to fail. Social media is all about adapt or die, so these are a few things to keep in mind (or avoid) when you want to succeed in handling social media!
You’ll surely fail in social media if…
Are you causing a downfall to your socials? Here are a few things that you might be unconsciously doing!
1 Becoming obsessed with followers, fans, and connections!
Quality over quantity! It’s not about the number of followers you have, but it’s always the quality of the content you are posting. When you post, don’t think about how many people are going to like it or how many followers you’re going to gain, rather, just post content that you think is at par with your brand. Write something that will make people benefit.
Remember, you can have a thousand followers on Instagram or a thousand likes on Facebook, but if they are not your target audience, then they are meaningless. They are not people who will genuinely like your content or enjoy it. Remember to attract the right audience by being relevant to them.
2 Treating social networks as one.
Refrain from duplicating content! Each social platform has its own edge that people need to follow. Facebook has a different type of engagement, and Instagram’s approach is also different, content-wise, as well as Twitter’s. So, don’t be surprised when that one post might work for one platform but flop at a different one. The most effective approach to this is plotting and strategizing content for each platform. This way, they can be more effective in terms of engagement.
3 Joining every new social media platform that pops up.
You are doomed to fail if you join and follow every social media platform that comes up. You don’t need to join all of them, you just need to find one that the people engage with the most. This will only consume time! Just think about managing all of those social media platforms and we’re not even sure if your target audience is amongst the people there.
4 Giving up after a week?
As we’ve mentioned above, social media may look effortless on the outside, however, as you go along doing it, there you’ll notice that it requires more thought and attention than you originally planned. So, try not to give up after a week! Keep on exploring different content you can post, think of ways how to engage your target audience, and just be excited to grow your brand in general.
Once you get the hang of things, you’ll have no trouble staying in the pulse of things. Plus, when you truly live and breathe your brand, your content is bound to get easier to create. So again, don’t give up!
5 Talk to the people
Be a conversationalist on social media! No matter how much you use all caps or scream and shout at people on your posts, they are likely to do one thing, IGNORE! People will scroll through your posts if it isn’t meaningful or it doesn’t relate to them.
